The band attended the Longs Peak Scottish Irish Festival over the weekend of Sept 10th and 11th. Even though we had an abbreviated season this year, the work we have done since August has paid off. We played with more players than we had earlier in the season, and we placed first in both the Quick March Medley and Time Limit Medley events. It was an especially gratifying result for the pipe section who placed first in both contests, and played more people than at any other contest this year. Many players worked extra to improve and rise to the challenge.

The good folks in the Fort Collins Pipe Band have consistently set the bar high for the band, and we were perhaps taking advantage of their state of exhaustion (besides competing, they took on the challenge of performing at the evening tattoos), but they took it all in good spirit. If we keep pushing each other, it only serves to make us both better. Best wishes to them as they head out to the Oceanside Games in Ventura, California next month.
